Reflections on the Kiffin firing...

I always say, it's better to resolve not dissolve.

Davis and Kiffin should have tried harder to work out their differences and focus on the objectives.

Its disappointing that we cannot build stability nor change the culture of losing after 6 long years of losing. I think we are finally headed in the right direction and there is promise, but we need a strong core of coaches and leadership at the top. We must improve in scouting, drafting and free agency. What worked in the 60's and 70's is not working today. We must evolve or stay at the bottom.

For the first time since during the Shell disaster i am seeing a collective loss of enthusiasm and defeatist attitude among the fans. It sucks because we the fans deserve better. Fans of other teams constantly admit that Raider fans are the most loyal and passionate. But Raiders fans aren't stupid, we know there is something seriously wrong with the Raiders....

Whats next?

I say good riddance. When you blow two huge 4th quarter leads in the fashion that we did. It is obvious a change needs to be made.

If Kiffin had shut the hell up and not thrown his coaches, owner, or organization under the bus then Al would have no "cause" to fire him instead Lane played into the old man's hands.

Did we improve? Yes! But it did not equate to wins. I feel that in hiring Tom Cable as our next head coach there will be some
consistancy.

Remember this is a guy who took one of the worst O-lines of all time and turned them into a competent unit.

Maybe Lane will go on to do bigger and better things, but I feel it'll be at the college level.

We are definitely going to take shit from the media, but that will never change.

You've got to remember this is Al's team and it sucks sometimes.

I won't lose much sleep over a guy that had a 5-15 record. That is a winning 25% of your games.

I say give Cable a chance and we will go from there. It is getting frustrating but you have to believe it is getting better. We have more talent out there this season than in seasons past.

I say keep the faith. This team has talent and this is not like lost seasons of the past.

And does it really matter we are still showing up to the games.

You are right Berto we are the most loyal and sometimes you take the good with the bad

I agree with you, Berto…I wish you were the one charge. I know you would do a better job than those clowns in front office. Stay strong.

Wow thats huge. I doubt that a single coach, even the head coach, could be the source of the consistently inconsistent performance to date - still I hope the change in leadership provides a 'breath of fresh air'. Clearly Sarah Palin won't have any plans after nov 4th, maybe we could tap her, you know, for the err, position.
Here's food for though. Randy Moss (I know I know you don't like him his work ethic sucks etc) added no value for us, then went off to post huge numbers for Old English, and now appears to suck again. Maybe players have these on/off switches that require leadership capable of turning on that little light inside. Or something. Don't know, just food for thought.

Listen if Kiffin wanted the Arkansas job he sold out his players the first year on the job.

Im a Raiders fan not a Lane Kiffin fan, I liked him but I think he was looking out for his best intrest and not the best intrest of the team.

Tom Cable is the right man for the job, the maturity is night and day between him and Kiffin.

I’m glade Al brought up the two timeouts, that was really bad, and the 76 yard field goal
