Raiders v Lions
I was so dissapointed that we couldn't beat the Lions at home.
The Lions Rogers created plays about as frequently as he played. We got lucky when he got hungry and went to the sidelines to eat a burger and didn't play every snap. I saw him disrupt the passing game, the running game and even block a kick. Gallery, Carsile and especially Grove looked outmatched and outplyed.
-Morrison is playing like a Pro-Bowler. Burgess was his disruptive self but he was neutralized by the double team. We need more interior line push. G. Warren is not the answer. G. Warren should have been cut; i didn't see him make plays in the preseason and aginst the lions he couldn't have made a play if it was two hand touch. The rest of our defensive line didn't do much better. Sapp looks like an linebacker and is plenty fast making plays in the flat, but didn't appear to have the same forceful push of a Rogers. Did Sands even play?
I applaud the O for making plays looking competent, but we fell short too many times in the first half and had to force long FG's. Statistically we played well, but like Sapp says "stats don't mean shit." Curry is the real deal and it seemed fitting that he got our first TD. I still wonder about McCown and it seems he plays with an attitude of not to lose or make mistakes as opposed to taking the game over. I was dissapointed that despite the secondary being the weakness of the Lions, we threw the deep ball once. Too many of our receivers came up short on their routes. For example running 4 yards when we need 6 etc..
Our ST looked slow compared to the Lions. The Lions were tougher and completely outplayed our ST. Sea Bass missed FGs gave them excellent field position which led to points. To rub it in shortly after missing a 46 yard FG, the Lions kicked demonstratred how to do it.
Overall it makes me sick that we lost to the lowly Lions. Despite not scoring till the end of the 3rd Quarter when we got the lead with 5 minuters left, i expected Sapp and the D to close the game for us. We all know it could have been worse, but that doesn't make me feel any better. We are the Radiers not the Lions. We are supposed to win.
Why didn't we blitz?
Why didn't we go deep?
Against Denver we are going to have to get some answers quickly or it's going to be another long season..
Im still in...
